Hyderabad Airport (Shamsabad) – Connectivity from City

The Hyderabad Airport web site has a page with details of connectivity from the city and another page with route maps to the airport from various places in the city. Needless to say, both these pages are sparse and leave out a lot of information.

For example, airport shuttles are listed as starting from 4 locations:

Secunderabad, Adjacent to Keyes High School
Greenlands, Ground floor, Paryatak Bhavan
Charminar, adjacent to Quli Qutub Shah Stadium, opposite City College
Mehdipatnam, Adjacent to entrance of Sarojini Devi Hospital

They have listed the fare, Rs. 95/- inclusive of taxes. Cool. What is missing is maps and instructions of how to board the shuttles, where to buy tickets, maps pin pointing the starting locations, etc. The information presented is usable only by a native Hyderabadi who knows his or her city inside out. Anybody out-of-towners will be lost.

Anyway, here is a map showing the Greenlands area, with the Paryatak Bhavan (AP Tourism) highlighted (see map below)

You can take a taxi or an autorickshaw to the Paryatak Bhavan. Note that there are severe traffic restrictions in place in this area because of the flyover construction. Also note that the Chief Minister's residence is right next door and this can create problems. Ya. Politicians!

I have not used the shuttle service yet but will have to do so in the near future. Will blog about it when I do.

The picture below was sent out by the Airport authorities. As a map it is next to useless other than as broad indicators of where.

Thanks a lot. Travelling to Hyderabad today and was wondering where this Greenlands stop is. From this i guess its next new Katriya hotel

Hello Pradha,

The new Katriya Hotel is in the same complex – Paryatak Bhavan. It is also called the Tourism Plaza.

Thanks for the detailed post with the map – the miserable HIAL airport connectivity website has a useless map with no directions/instructions. Using your website I was able to figure out exactly where this bus stop is – so I can take the bus on my way to the airport today evening.

this says shuttle service is every 30 mins from the tourism bhavan between 3.30 am and 11.30 pm.

I require to take the shuttle at 12.00 midnight. Will I get one? I need to be sure.

  1 pm? Sure. You will. You should get autos there all the time. There is an auto stand opposite Paryatak Bhavan under the fly over. Also you can walk towards the Greenlands junction and pick up an auto from there.
