Apollo Hospital Hyderabad has a large open field below the main complex that is used for parking. The Doctors have sheds for their cars but visitors have to park wherever they can. The field is rocky and has some very large rocky embedded in the hard earth. Every time it rains the whole place becomes a quagmire and dangerous. I have hit hidden rocks on many occasions. There was no lighting earlier.
Now Apollo Hospital has decided to cash in on this land. They are charging Rs. 15/- for cars & Rs. 10/- for 2 wheelers for the first hour, per entry. Charges go up with the amount of time the vehicle is parked. And the “per entry” policy means that you have to buy a new parking ticket every time you entry the so called parking lot. Some lights have been rigged up but they do not really light up the area, only the entrance, leaving most of the field in pitch darkness. I don’t dare take my wife or kids into that field at night. I always leave them standing in the main complex while I go fetch the car. The field is otherwise as it always was, hard packed earth with rocks jutting out everywhere and the ground badly broken in many places where rain water has cut deep channels. It costs me money in damage to my car every time I drive into that blasted field!
Apollo has recruited a few girls and boys to make sure all visitors pay for the “privilege” of parking in this “menace to all vehicles” of a field. They do not help you park. They just make sure you pay.
If Apollo Hospitals had at least made the place a little bit safer then they would be justified in charging for parking. At least remove the rocks and fill in the broken ground. Put in proper lighting.
I don’t mind paying for parking. But this is fleecing people who have no other option! Blood Suckers!
