Jim Butcher's Dresden Files – Book 11 – Turn Coat
Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series and it's hero, Harry Dresden, is my current favorite. I have read the series a number of times. Before Small Favor (Amazon Link) was released on April 1, 2008, I reread the entire series from start to finish to prepare for Small Favor. And I wasn't disappointed. Buzzy Multimedia is developing the Dresden Files as a audiobook series read by James Marsters. So far they have released the first four books and Small Favor. Book 5, Summer Knight, is in development now. I hope they will also release the audiobook for Turn Coat in April 2009.
Turn Coat, book 11 of the Dresden Files series, will be relased on April 7, 2009. Blurb and cover art:
The Warden Morgan has been accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council--and there's only one, final punishment for that crime. He's on the run, wants his name cleared, and needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. Someone like Harry Dresden.
Now, Harry must uncover a traitor within the Council, keep a less-than-agreeable Morgan under wraps, and avoid coming under scrutiny himself. And a single mistake may cost someone his head--someone like Harry.

I can't wait! Knowing the Dersden Files series, I know that this one will be just a good as the rest!
CusslerMen – A Clive Cussler Fan Web Site
I came across a very nice fan site for Clive Cussler novels called CusslerMen. The site is run by a group of book collectors who specialize in Clive Cussler novels. The web site has description of all the Clive Cussler books, with pictures of actual books, commentary and trivia about editions. They have a forum, items on sale, commentary on Clive Cussler's signatures and much more.
If you enjoy Clive Cussler's books and his characters, then this web site is a must see.

Jim Butcher's Codex Alera Audiobooks
An audiobook of Captain's Fury, Jim Butcher's latest book in the Codex Alera series is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The previous three books in the same series are also available as audiobooks from Amazon (pre-order). The price in each case is steep $50! Fifty bucks for an audio CD?
- Codex Alera I - Furies of Calderon Audiobook (Release Nov 20, 2008)
- Codex Alera II - Academ's Fury Audiobook (Release Nov 20, 2008)
- Codex Alera III - Cursor's Fury Audiobook (Release Nov 20, 2008)
- Codex Alera IV - Captain's Fury Audiobook (Release March 27, 2008)
- Codex Alera V - Princep's Fury Audiobook (Release Nov 25, 2008)
Interestingly the audiobook of Book 5, Princep's Fury, will be released a full week before the hardcover release on December 2, 2008.
After waiting for a long time for the new book (Captain's Fury) to appear on Hyderabad bookstores, I finally finished reading Captain's Fury last month. As good as the first three books in the series. Now I can hardly wait for book 5, Princep's Fury.
Arthur C. Clarke Dies At 90
The king is dead; long live the king.
Arthur C. Clarke, the greatest science fiction author this world has seen, died at the age of 90 at his home in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
My first encounter with Clarke was within the page of Fountains of Paradise, a novel about an engineer who builds an elevator to the stars. From there I sought out his books in the libraries in the small town of Rourkela, Orissa, where I was born and went to school. I soon came across 2001: A space Odyssey, Childhood's End, Rendezvous with Rama, The Songs of Distant Earth, and my personal favorite, The Deep Range.
In his later years Clarke collaborated with Gentry Lee, Stephen Baxter and others to create a series of books. I remember picking up one of them, I don't remember which, but never completing it. Perhaps the only time I have started reading a book and never finishing. It just didn't feel right. Didn't feel like Clarke. So I never again bought a Clarke that wasn't a vintage Clarke.
This little post is my personal tribute to the man who, to me at least, is the greatest science fiction writer this world has ever seen. The man who introduced a school kid living in a small industrial town in the tribal belts of Orissa, to the wonders of space travel and thoughts of what could be.
May he find peace.
