Test of blog by email from mobile

This is the second test of the blog by email feature I just configured. This email is being sent from my mobile phone, a Sony Ericsson P1i. I am using the built in email client which does not support HTML emails. I have attached a big image.
This email should end up using the Postie plugin.
Lets see what happens this time.

Update:

  • Paragraphs run together. Try giving two empty lines in the email?
  • Categories didn't work at all. I had used the "-Cat1- -Cat2- Subject" format. Have to try the "[Category] [Category] Subject" format.

Image support worked like a charm. I had attached a fairly large image from my mobile phone and it was added to the bottom of the post as expected. The image was nicely resized too.

Testing Blog-By-Email

Hello! Hello! Hello!

Earth Calling...

Does post by email work? Did I get all the settings right? That's a big
question because I have read only half way through the manual :-)

Let's see what WordPress does with this
href="http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_by_Email">email-to-post
thingy.

Update:

Makes a mess of it! The formatting is off rather bad. The one hyper link I put in was massacred. I am leaving the post as is to demonstrate how the blog by email feature works out-of-the-box. I will try Postie next. Uploading the plugin files to the server now... Email was sent from ThunderBird 2.0.0.9 using HTML mail.

Windows Live Writer

I am writing this on Windows Live Writer, version 2008. Setup was a bit of a pain (see screen shot) but then what do you expect from Microsoft? Anyway, once it had finished "examining" my "system", it was relatively easy to setup. The older blog settings were retained from the Beta version and I was able to setup my new WordPress based blog quickly.

Windows Live Writer - Installation

Of particular interest to me now is how this thing will treat images. Lets see now...
