Elephanta Trip

We decided to visit Elephanta on a Sunday last October. Left early from our home in Juhu and drove to India Gate. From there we took a ferry to the island of Elephanta. The ferry ride was nice. We had comfortable seats and we enjoyed the ride.

Rakhi!

Rakhi is on Friday, August 12. My son Jyotiraditya received Rakhi’s from his two sisters in the US, Meghu & Chikoo. And I received mine from my little lister in the US.

After seeing his Rakhi’s Bablu was rather thoughtful for a while. He finally asked me – what gift do I get for Meghu & Chikoo? And how do I give them their gifts for their Rakhi’s?

I told him to think of suitable gifts for his sisters in the US and he nodded sagely, saying he would.

Vacation in Delhi

We will travel to Delhi by the Mumbai Rajdhani and spend a full week there. My brother-in-law lives in Gurgaon and we will stay with him. The kids have never visited Delhi and I have big plans to show them around – Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Rajpath, India Gate, Jantan Mantar, Rastrapati Bhavan, Lotus Temple etc. And of course the many restaurants, shops and road side eateries.

We plan to visit Agra to see the Taj and spend the night in it’s shadow. Is it really a Shiva Temple desecrated by Shah Jahan who threw out the Linga and buried his Begum there?

Then we will visit Mathura and see the land where Lord Krishna spent his childhood. I remember the temple there and am really looking forward to visiting again and showing my family the earth where Krishna danced with his gopis.

Then on Friday we shall return by Rajdhani again. We love traveling by train. It is so much more fun than flying!

I can’t wait!

Visiting Delhi I have a presentation to a high level Indian Army...

13th Wedding Anniversary!

Feb 2, 2011. Our 13th wedding anniversary!

I am standing outside the arrivals hall at Mumbai airport waiting for Padmaja to collect her bags. She is returning from a business trip to Bhilai Steel Plant. The kids are visiting our parents in Bhubaneswar and will return tomorrow – their first trip all my themselves!

Moving to Juhu

Today we shift to JVPD in Juhu. The flat there is on the third floor of a small apartment complex next to Ecole Mondiale Mandel School. It is a SAIL flat allotted to my wife, Padmaja, after she joined the Mumbai Regional office.

So our last day at West End, Raheja Vihar, Chandiveli, Powai – our first home in Mumbai. I can’t say I am sorry to move. Raheja has it’s points but it is way too far from the Kid’s school in Santa Cruz and Padmaja’s office in Bandra Kurla Complex.

The packers will come at about 9 – 9.30 am. The packing is all done thanks to Padmaja who had the day off yesterday. A few loose ends to tie up and we will be ready for the move.

Juhu, here we come…

i am leaving on a jet plane…

I am leaving on a jet plane… With the loves of my life beside me though

Off to Hyderabad for 4 days. Biryani, Haleem & old friends before we leave the city for ever in the quest for more…

I spent 15 years in the dear old city and came to love it as my own. I left in March 2010 to join Rolta India & Santhosh George at Mumbai. Today I am taking my family back for a last visit to the old city.

Oh, I know we will return but this does seem like the last time – a rending of ties, of last goodbyes…

Hyderabad, here we come!

Birthday Card for Padmaja, by Mamli & Bablu

Mamli, our 10 year old daughter & Bablu our 5 year old son made a birthday card for Mummy today. I am not sure when they made it but most probably they worked on it after school today. Anyway they made the whole thing themselves, artwork and text. On a piece of A4 printer paper. I will let the card speak for itself.
